Our friends, near and far have been so generous to us during the loss of our church and everything that was inside of it.
Left: Sunrise banner made and gifted to us from the Trinity Stitcher’s at Trinity United Methodist Church in Henrico, VA. Notice the Altar Cross that was pulled from the fire debris! Thank you to Marco Floyd for locating the cross and adding the medallion with the date of the fire inscribed.
Right: Cross banner made by Mary Smith as a gift to our church, during the very early days after the fire.
Thank you! To New Hope United Methodist Church for the donation of choir robes. You have touched our hearts!
Progress towards rebuilding! What can you see on this lot a year from now? What will it look like? How will you help to make it happen? Now that the lot is cleared we can begin to better imagine the future God has in mind for us. Pray - Give - Believe.
The morning of 10/29/2021, just after 7:00 a.m. our church sanctuary caught fire and was destroyed. The fellowship hall was also destroyed and everything left standing at all is heavily damaged with smoke and water-logged.
What do you say when your house of worship burns to the ground? Our church family is mourning and grieving the loss of something that was so much a part of life. For some, the church has been a part of their life as long as they can remember.
Out of these ashes will come a new movement of God, powered by the Holy Spirit, for new and renewed vital ministries of faith and hope. We will continue to praise our Lord Jesus Christ for his goodness to us.
For the King and the Kingdom, Rev. David Rash, Pastor

Weekly Service
11:00 Weekly Sunday Service: Due to the devastating fire at our church, services are being held at the Sherando Ruritan Community Center located at 1865 Mount Torrey Rd, Lyndhurst, VA 22952
The United Methodist Church was created in 1968, but Methodism dates back to John and Charles Wesley who sought to spread the Methodist movement they began as student small group at Oxford. At about the same time, people like Philip Otterbein and Martin Boehm were leading similar movements that helped people grow in their faith. Those two strands of Christianity came together decades later to form The United Methodist Church.

What To Expect
SUMC is an active rural church in a small community. We want you to know that we personally embrace people who come visit or join with us. We support each other in our gladness and in our sorrow as brothers and sisters in Christ. We are committed to continuing the discipleship journey together and being used by God to make new disciples of the Lord in our homes, schools, and workplaces.
